Today, the web is everything - the present and future. No longer are people content to storing their photos in their computer or emailing others, they want to show off and thus the need for online Photo Sharing arose. While flickr with hundreds of thousands of members has been dominating this area for a long time, other services like Zoto, Snapfish, etc have tried their best to emulate Flickr’s success. However, they have not been able to do so. But out of the darkness arises light and here comes Fotki, a great, feature-rich extension of Flickr especially in the Pro account area.

Google has bought Upstartle - the maker of Writely, which is a Web-based word processing software. The company has not disclosed the terms of the deal.
Writely is a Free web word processor which lets you share and collaborate your work online.

Tech Crunch has posted some exclusive screenshots of Google’s upcoming AJAX-powered Calendar web application. Dubbed CL2, Google Calendar is a fairly long way from a public launch and is currently under a very strict private beta.
As expected, Google services such as Gmail will be able to integrate with CL2 and might even feature SMS notifications, that is sending a text message to your mobile phone as a reminder. We’ll have to wait and see what comes of it, but 30 Boxes might have some stiff competition on hand.

Google revealed new and cheaper Google Mini. The new mini can index up to 50,000 documents and it cost $1,995.
Google Mini is a hardware and software search appliance that index your organization’s documents and websites using Google search technology.

Wikipedia announces Millionth article
The team behind Wikipedia, the online encyclopaedia written by its users, is celebrating after the English version of Wikipedia racked up its one millionth article.
The Wikimedia Foundation announced late on Wednesday that the target had been reached, after an article about the Jordanhill railway station in Scotland was created.

Gmail vulnerability discovered by 14 year old
Anthony,a 14 year old kid, has posted on this blog about a Javascript Gmail vulnerability that he discovered.
“Apparently javascript will run if it is withing the preview of the message” wrote Anthony, meaning that hackers could grab email addresses or possibly steal cookies and compromise Google accounts. It’s surprising that this vulnerability existed and who knows how long this has been a hole.

Kaspersky,a security software, is warning that a new mobile virus is targeting any mobile capable of running Java applications.The malware claims to be an application called RedBrowser, which allows mobile users to access WAP services without using a WAP connection by using a free SMS service.
The malware sends data to a SMS service which charges around $5 per message.Kaspersky’s corporate communications officer,Olga Kobzareva, says that RedBrowser is a sign that virus writers are no longer targeting only smartphones.
