Laptop Batteries

If you own a laptop computer and use your laptop away from your home and office, one of the major concerns is the amount of energy that your laptop battery can hold.  For most computer laptop users, most batteries last for about 2 to 4 hours without a charge.  If you are looking for ways to extend your battery performance here are some tips.

The easiest way to extend your laptop battery is to manage your laptops power consumption effectively.  Windows software allows you to choose settings that can extend the battery life by over 50% in some circumstances.  For instance, many laptops will shut off the monitor or sleep if the computer is not used for a couple of minutes. Others ways to manage your laptop is to not run power hungry applications such as games or DVD video.

Another easy way to extend the amount of time to work on your computer away from an electrical source is to purchase an extra battery.  Most batteries cost about $100 or more, however you can usually buy a used battery for less.  Many people have no choice but to carry extra batteries with them when they travel.  Unfortunately batteries do weight a couple of pounds.
