Break the Code
Once again Google has shown that it is completely dedicated to being the number one search engine in the entire world. The launch of Google Code Search is the newest weapon that Google has given to the many web developers in the world and the reviews are all very positive. Using this new search possibility a web developer can now scour the web for source codes to aid them in their developing duties. This new search connects the user with millions of web sites and documents scattered all over the web and allows them to be used and found in a much easier fashion.
This is the newest thing that Google has announced and is part of the growing trend where the massive engine company looks to be a presence in every field on the web. They are moving to all the emerging markets and have made some very positive moves in this area.
Coders the world over could not be happier that the internet giant has gotten into the code game. They have long used Google as the main source of information any way and now it is much simpler for them to find the correct answer to their coding queries.
The inspiration for Code Search came from an internal program that was used by the Google programmers to seek out specific lines of code within the Google platform. As the tool was used more and more it became apparent that this kind of search feature would be of use to more then just the Google employees.
There are some worries though. The system is vulnerable to attack and the search function can be used as a tool by spammers to harvest email addresses. Google has said they will be looking into several security measures to help protect the results but that is not likely. With any type of search engine there is the possibility of its misuse and the world may have to settle for getting into the code pool without a life guard in this case if they want the Google search power behind them.
Some of the competing companies are known to happy about this development. Some of the major competitors are looking at ways to make their searches more relevant to draw attention away from Google and back to their sites. However, there is little chance that any of these sites are any kind of direct threat to the powerhouse that is Google and the might they have backing them.
