If you want to protect yourself from software that can take control of your computer, search for your passwords or log your user habits, here are some tips on protecting yourself from Adware and Spyware.

Adware and Spyware are very similar to one another, they both are small programs that are downloaded from a site in order to either log your surfing habits or user habit in the case of Adware or search your computer for personal information and passwords as is the case with Spyware.  Most users don’t realize that they give permission to many sites to install adware on their computers.  Most software programs that are free on the internet often include adware that tracks your surfing habits.  These programs are usually listed in the EULA (end user licensing agreement) so make sure you check the EULA before downloading any Adware.

For spyware, the best prevention is with the use of anti spyware software.  Anti spyware software is similar to anti virus software.  It scans your computer to make sure you do not have any software programs running in the background that fit certain criteria.  If you would like to reduce adware and spyware, look at the above tips.
